Two weeks before Xmas break!

Just the other day we were sitting in the art room enjoying turkey, stuffing, pie and more during our Thanksgiving party. Time is flying by! Now we are ready to begin thinking about our Christmas party. We will be holding our Christmas party on December 22 in the afternoon. Each year the students in my class make gingerbread houses out of graham crackers, frosting and candy. This year we plan to do the same. If you are interested in helping out with this party please write me a note on your child’s CHAT folder and let me know. We are going to need lots of supplies and helpers on this day. Your help is appreciated!

Keeping You Up To Date:

Reading-
Reading groups continued this week. Students are working on developing “book talks” on the books they read in reading groups. Ask your child what a book talk is and see if they can tell you.

Math-
Our math time in class has been filled with money. We also began talking about the metric measure of length.

Writing-
This week students began their first writing using the “organization” rubric. This rubric focuses on format. We are working on the development of a strong beginning, middle and end.
