MEAP NEXT WEEK

Next week is the first of two MEAP testing weeks. The MEAP test is an assessment given to all students grades 3 through 8 that tests students in basic grade level skills, Each year students take a test over the content taught in the grade level they were in the previous year. Our students will be tested over material learned in second grade. MEAP scores are used to evaluate each individual student as well as the school district they attend. Each school district is required to show annual yearly progress in order to meet the “no child left behind” legislation put into place a few years back. Please make sure that students are coming to school rested and fed. Breakfast is a must for students next week!

Keeping You Up To Date

Reading-
Reading groups continued this week. Each student was asked to think about questions they could ask others to promote deeper thinking during group time. Questioning can be a great tool in building reading comprehension.

Math-
Our math time in class has been filled with time and place value this week. Students will be responsible for knowing numbers through 10,000.

Science-
Students had the opportunity to conduct many experiments this week with their plants. Observations continue to be a daily task as well. We were able to look at and dissect flowers and fruits this week. Look for the parent note that came home today concerning the science project coming up in the near future.

Have a great weekend! Happy homecoming!

Mr. O
