New Science Unit
This week the students in our class concluded their flowering plans unit in science. Students took a test over the material learned over the first nine weeks of school and did pretty well. The hardest part of the test asked students to explain photosynthesis and then draw the life cycle of a plant. Overall students did well; however there were a few that stumbled. Each of these test were also sent home this week. On Wednesday students began the second of four science units. The Solid, liquid, gas unit is one of my favorites. Students will get the opportunity to do many fun and exciting experiments and investigations during this unit. Look for more information on solids, liquids and gases coming home in the future.
Keeping You Up To Date:
Reading-
Reading groups continued this week. Students were also introduced to the suffix “er” and the rules that go along with its use. Students took a quiz over the material learned in class on Friday.
Math-
We began talking about money and how it is used this week. Students were able to manipulate coins and even began adding and subtracting them. We needed a little review borrowing and carrying this week as a review as well.
Writing-
This week students began Thanksgiving writing about turkeys. Students are currently through the rough draft phase and ready to move on to the second draft.
