MEAP PREP

For the past couple of weeks our class has been working very hard preparing for the MEAP test. Students have been looking over actual MEAP items from last years test. As a class we have held many in depth discussions about the types of questions students will need to answer. The third grade students in our class will be tested over the material taught to them in second grade. Students at Bentheim have done very well on the test in the past and I’m sure will do well this year!

MEAP COMING

Our MEAP testing will begin October 9 and conclude on the 18th. It is very important that your child not miss any school during this period of time. We are not allowed to make up any missed testing after the 25th. Students will need to eat well and get good rest during this time. Thank you for all of your help!

Reading-
This week students were asked to take two writings from the MEAP test and compare them. They needed to answer questions about each individual text and questions comparing the two.

Math-
Our attention this week was placed on the concept of time. Students were introduced to hours, minutes, and we even had the opportunity to discuss elapsed time.

Science-
Students had the opportunity to conduct many experiments this week with their plants. Observations continue to be a daily task as well.

Social Studies-
We began our unit on geography this week. Students learned about regions and how our country is divided into regions.
